Methodology
Doctor’s Data is a federally licensed CLIA Laboratory. Neurotransmitters in the add-on NeuroBasic is analysed via the Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). This is an advanced analytical technique that combines the separation capabilities of liquid chromatography (LC) with the sensitivity and specificity of tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). In liquid chromatography, the sample is dissolved in a solvent and passed through a chromatographic column, where different compounds separate based on their interactions with the column material. The separated compounds then enter the mass spectrometer. In tandem mass spectrometry, the separated compounds are ionized and fragmented into smaller ions in the first mass spectrometer (MS1). These fragments are then selectively isolated and further fragmented in a second mass spectrometer (MS2), allowing for more precise identification and quantification of the compounds. Creatinine via the enzymatic colorimetric kinetic Jaffe method. This is a laboratory technique used for the quantitative measurement of creatinine in biological samples, such as blood or urine. Creatinine is a waste product generated by muscle metabolism and is excreted by the kidneys at a relatively constant rate, making it a commonly used indicator of kidney function. In the Jaffe method, creatinine reacts with picric acid under alkaline conditions to form a coloured complex. The intensity of the colour produced is directly proportional to the concentration of creatinine in the sample. The reaction is monitored over time, allowing for kinetic measurement of the rate of colour development. A spectrophotometer is used to measure the absorbance of the coloured complex at a specific wavelength, and the creatinine concentration is determined by comparing the absorbance to a standard curve.
Consider this test for comprehensive insights into HPA Axis function, sex hormones, and neurotransmitter metabolism. It combines salivary hormone testing (cortisol, DHEA, estradiol, progesterone, testosterone) with urinary profiling of nine primary neurotransmitters and can be used to assess hormonal imbalances, mood disorders, cognitive concerns and much more.
