Only detected microbes are reported, focusing on the balance between protective and potentially harmful species. Methodology
The Vaginal Microbiome employs shotgun metagenomics, a cutting-edge method for analysing all DNA within a sample. This approach breaks the extracted DNA into small, random sections, which are then uniquely barcoded, pooled, and analysed. The resulting sequences are assembled, and taxa are assigned. Rigorous quality control checks are performed at multiple stages to ensure data accuracy.
