Yeast Culture + Sensitivities CMI16
Detecting abnormal levels of specific yeast species in stool aids in therapeutic planning for patients with chronic gastrointestinal and extra-gastrointestinal symptoms. Additionally, it provides an antimicrobial susceptibility testing for bacterial and fungal species aiding in tailored treatment selection.

The Yeast Culture and Sensitivities test utilises Culture & ID (MALDI-TOF). This is a microbiological technique that combines traditional microbial culture with Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for rapid and accurate identification of microorganisms.
In this process, microbial cultures grown on solid media are directly sampled and mixed with a matrix solution. A laser pulse ionizes the microbial cells, causing them to release ions that are accelerated and separated based on their mass-to-charge ratio in the mass spectrometer.
The resulting mass spectrum is compared to a database of known microbial spectra, enabling rapid identification of the microorganism at the species or genus level.
Consider the Yeast Culture and Sensitivities test to identify yeast overgrowth and tailor treatment for chronic GI and extra-GI symptoms. Useful for conditions like autoimmune disease, IBD/IBS, inflammation, food sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies, and skin issues like atopic dermatitis.
