Methodology
Immunosciences lab is certified by both CLIA and the College of American Pathologists. The laboratory utilises ELISA for conducting the Viral Panel Comprehensive. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a widely used biochemical technique for detecting and quantifying the presence of antibodies, antigens, proteins, hormones, and other molecules in biological samples. In ELISA, a specific antigen or antibody is immobilized on a solid surface such as a microplate well. The sample containing the target molecule is added to the well, allowing any complementary molecules to bind to the immobilized antigen or antibody. After washing away unbound molecules, a secondary antibody conjugated with an enzyme is added, which binds specifically to the target molecule. Subsequent addition of a substrate for the enzyme leads to a colour change or fluorescence, which is measured spectrophotometrically. The intensity of the colour or fluorescence is directly proportional to the amount of target molecule present in the sample, enabling qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Consider the Viral Panel Comprehensive for early detection of autoantibodies preceding autoimmune/neurodegenerative disorders. Useful for patients with Thyroid autoimmunity, Sjögren’s Syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, Type 1 diabetes, Stiff man syndrome, Guillain-Barré syndrome and more.
